IQVIA launches digital tool for ordering lab tests and managing specimens

Global contract research organization IQVIA is looking to simplify workflows for its clinical trial investigators with a new bundle of digital applications.

The solution’s star attraction is an electronic tool for requesting lab tests and managing specimens called e-Requisition, the company announced in a March 4 release.

The overall goal of the tool is to eliminate the need for manually filling out paper forms and thereby reduce errors and improve regulatory compliance, IQVIA said.

Nestled within a solution suite known as Site Lab Navigator, e-Requisition lets users track shipped samples, order lab equipment and validate data in real time.

The tool also provides guidance on entering data and sample collection, according to the release.

“Site Lab Navigator and its differentiated e-Requisition solution will significantly reduce administrative burden on sites and improve the quality and execution of clinical trials for our customers,” David Morris, IQVIA’s chief operating officer, said in the release. “The early response has been extremely positive, with a number of sponsors already signed on including several top 10 pharmaceutical companies.”

IQVIA’s new navigator will integrate with its One Home software portal, which launched in June 2024 as a way to rein in the myriad software systems that site investigators have to use by housing them all in one dashboard.
